high rise

the highest building between LA & SF is the 22 story Dean Witter building in Oxnard, so my high rise dream was set there, but it was different - the DW building is the highest point for miles, with great views from all sides, but the side with my office faced a large construction or repair project, which was just as high & featured many large machines being operated right on the precarious edge of a precipitious drop. the windows were all full length & so of course i felt my acrophobic vertigo, that feeling of being dizzily sucked towards the edge, to where i'd have to cling to the walls to walk in the room. i was working for an employment service, some of our clients had real workers comp issues, but management was trying to make it out like it was the employees fault, which i clearly knew was not the case.

to get around in the building, like to the cafeteria or the health club, i had to use the stairs, the elevators were way, way too scary, all tilt-y, vertigo city. while i was on the stairs, i was looking for a place to change clothes, i was wearing my jammies & looked like hell in them. in the cafeteria (often lots of food in my dreams) there was a buffet lunch & many of the employment clients, who were obvioulsy poor & exploited, were trying to hoard food, and i was trying to help them.

then i found out i was pregnant, then i woke up.

bill gates again

dreamt about bill gates again last night, but he was head of a pizza empire. he was still the same old bill, but he ate a lot of pizza which i, as his assistant, had to go to the grocery store to order for him. & yeah, as always with the bg dreams, i was doing him, except this time there was no melinda around, as far as i could tell. i had to go walking because i needed to be in better shape, even though it was raining. i kept trying to go back in the office/bedroom to get exercise clothes but he always had other stuff for me to do. really busy guy. oh & there were these people moving into my place, as always with my dream apartments it was absolutely huge with lots of weird rooms & passageways. they were going to be sponging off me, they had all their little raggedy possessions in their little raggedy car that had a window missing & it was raining in on their stuff. then bill needed heart surgery, (maybe all the pizza?) & some young female celebrity - jenna elfman? donated some part of her heart, & was on the cover of magazines in a surgical gown looking all un-made-up & brave & beautiful.

this one's kinda patchy in parts - ok first of all i got up in the middle of the night & saw an email from mike at tripleB about joining the dreamlog, so he got into the dream that way, i suppose - i was telling him to get DSL, & he was really happy with it, & i explained how it goes over the same phone line with these awesome compression algorithms & then somehow he got signed up twice, so i was trying to help him figure out how to fix that, when these guys from harvard broke into my house. they were trying to use that, we're really cute guys from harvard & we get away with this sort of thing to charm their way out of getting in trouble, & it worked, to a point. apparently there was some noise & this old biddy from upstairs (i was living in an unfamiliar two story apartment building) came running downstairs in her curlers & a robe to express her disapproval by banging on the door & running away - pretty spry for a senior citizen, i must say. & i'm all, it's only 7:30 you bitch! but anyway. then it gets fuzzy but later on i get a call, it's the operator babbling something about person to person & i'm all, do you mean it's collect? it was the guys from harvard. so i accepted the charges & bitched them out for being big rich spoiled harvard kids calling poor little me collect, then i remembered i'd asked them if they could get me a little something out of the chemistry lab & told them to call me collect if they could get it, so i started apologizing profusely all in the same breath - they never really got to say anything, & then i started waking up...
