in the 'ping' section of my individual entry pages, there is now a link that will go out and list entries that have pinged the post, and entries that have pinged those entries, up to three levels. it doesn't work unless it's a very active discussion, but for those it will be very useful, i think.
installation is easy as can be, go here for information. the standard install gives you a page that you have to input the URL of the post, but if you configure the link like this, it works automatically (like mine)
http://yoururl.com/mt/mt-thread.cgi?url=<$MTEntryLink$>
as an example of a heated discussion that really benefits from this, check this out.

Oooh! This is a great thing, kd! Thanks for the info! I'm on my way to see just how stupid I can be while still managing to install it. ;)
was that the sound of my brain exploding?
oh my...sooky sooky now.
I might have a new project in the morning.
How interesting to see that I had missed a post during our racial identity fun.
as usual, you rule the free world and parts of communist china.
it's really easy to install. you download, unpack, upload one file, and create one directory. takes seconds. specific info is in the readme file of the download.
i would probably never need that but it is sooo geekly cool!
and while i was at it, i also edited all my categories to add descriptions, and then used the 'title' attribute of the category links to put a little mouseover over the link. because i'm just crazy that way. i just love my category archives. it'll even list multiple categories for each post.
Now THAT is freakin' cool!
