The icons and cursors on the science fiction desktop theme were awesome. We pretty much KO'd any kind of screensaver except black once we figured out that all of the computers we support were crappy and the fun themes were making them crash. Deep sigh. I miss my Calvin and Hobbes pointers desperately, although accurately opening a file with those things was close to impossible!
Well, I use SETI for a screensaver; the graphic is kinda cool.
That's at Berkeley, for those into looking for ET.
I'm having to restore XP on a machine as we speak.
Is it sad that I'm dancing to the XP setup music? It's the only music I can have at work.
oh mercy. that's ... simply awful.
Is it worse that I am at work with absolutely nothing to do and have taken too much cold medicine and my head is all weirded out and am now staring at the flying windows screensaver in total and complete awe like it was the greatest movie ever made?
flying toasters are cooler. remember those? they don't have those anymore do they? which is tragic.
Some versions of windows have this thing called Psychedelic 60's, which you can have appear as a whirling vortex or a bubble that zooms around on your wallpaper, and that one always entertains me far too much than it should.
see, i find that one just annoying.
as for myself, i have the screen just go blank after 15 minutes.
i used to have a neat-o one that made everything look like water or something, though, but then i got into this 'no screensaver' thingy. i used to be all into that 'science fiction' desktop theme too. ever see that? way cool.
but on crappy computers, it just makes them run that much worse. so i got out of the habit of using them.
*all teary and nostalgic over the flying toasters, who are no more*
