arts and crafts time! statia asked a good question - how do you make gooze? i found a couple of interesting, fun-sounding recipes.
realize, this never happens. recipes? me? i'm not domestic. but i likes me some gooze.
FLUBBER
Materials: Mixing spoon and two containers
Container #1 (3 cup capacity): 1 1/2 cups warm water, 2 cups white-glue, and food coloring. Container 2: 1 1/3 cups warm water and 3 teaspoon Borax
For best results, be sure to use warm water. Mix the ingredients in each container thoroughly. Pour Container #2 into Container #1. Gently lift and turn the mixture until only about a tablespoon of liquid is left. The Flubber will be sticky for a moment or two. Let the excess liquid drip off and the Flubber will be ready.
One caution, you need to be careful because little bits of Flubber can break off without notice as your children are playing with Flubber and not be found until days/weeks later. Fortunately, our splatters were on hardwood floors and with a little scratching with a fingernail we were able to pry up the dried "glue."

GOOZE
This turns out like silly putty.
1 tablespoon of liquid Starch
2-3 drops of food coloring
2 tablespoons of white glue*
*(Note: According to craft author, Kathy Ross, "My experience
with making silly putty is that you must use the regular,
original, adult type Elmer's Glue, NOT the School Glue."
Otherwise, it may turn out "runny".)
Plastic Easter egg or zip bag
What to do:
Mix the white glue and food coloring together in a small bowl.
Pour the liquid starch into a second small bowl. Slowly pour
the glue mixture on top of the liquid starch.
Allow the mixture to stand for 5 minutes or until the glue
absorbs the liquid starch.
Remove the putty from the bowl and knead until the desired
consistency.

Dan, you mean you took them down last year? ;)
You are officially, deeply cool.
And this is so righteously filed under hooha!
Wheee!
This totally rocks. A person can learn something every day!
Flubber! That's what Aaron made when he was in elementary. Awesome stuff. I may have to make some more. Thanks for posting this!
A little knowledge is dangerous...
...but I think these would be most excellent male bonding projects for the boys and me next Friday while Shelley is out on Ladies National Shopping Day. I mean it's either play with gooze and flubber or put up lights.
Tough call...
Cool! I'm gonna try this with Spenser this week.
When I hear the term "gooze" I think of something completely different. I'm disgusting.
apparently you don't watch nickelodeon, then. it's all quite innocent, so you just take your mind out of the gutter, missy :)
Is there another way doing gooze without Glue??!??!?
