actually i have been having a bit of trouble adjusting to life without medical insurance (i'm for some reason not eligible for COBRA - isn't that just ducky?) anyway i'm fairly high maintenance and as it turns out i don't do well with the minimal medicine for my asthma.
i'm working on it.
How the hell can you not be eligible for COBRA? Weren't you a full-time employee (not a contractor; then you're ineligible) for several years?
Work on it, please. The alternative of no meds just isn't cool at all.

the letter started out "you MAY be eligible for continued benefits" and concluded with a zero in the medical column and a figure of $30 something in the dental - meaning i could have dental, but not medical. not sure why.
aaaand, just got back from emergency room, which ... well, i guess i feel better. kind of a disaster all the way around.

I'd challenge the COBRA issue. You have a pre-existing medical condition, and you were let go by your employer. I'd check on that.

Actually your former employer should just keep paying the health plan bill for its account; you just reimburse it for your share; at least, the two times I've dealt with it that was the way it worked.
And your average kazaa time has dropped the same way Bush's average tax cut drops; WAY skewed by the heavy user/recipient. :)
