lie to me about my shoes. tell me that they're so tacky and ugly that they're actually cutting-edge cool, ok?

picture them: low platforms, thick soled, translucent (not crystal clear, kinda cloudy, matte finish) plastic throughout, and i think they call the style of shoe where the upper is just a thick band over the arch -- mules? yes, that's what they call them.

so, chunky plastic mules. not only that they require bandaids on the baby toes. however it's this or wear black with navy. i'll go with ugly and painful before i'll do the black/navy thing.

did you know feet gain weight?

you have? and it doesn't look somehow ... off?

eh. maybe my daughter's right.

and, the shoes have warmed up and conformed to my feet, they don't hurt much, and no one's pointing and laughing, so that's good.

I have a pair of navy and black shoes. Want to borrow 'em? They'd hurt your feet too, but they've never been worn and deserve to be.

lol! I do the black w/navy thing all the time! I had no idea it was a fashion no-no. Ah well, I'll continue on in my non matching world.

The mules sound cool to me. =) Saw this link and remembered you liked Zim. Which Invader Zim character you are most like!

At least you know that black and navy is a fashion no no. I've had many a boyfriend I had to teach that to.

and my daughter disagrees -- she claims they're both neutral, so why not?

it's just wrong. and/or it makes it look like you got dressed in the dark and thought you matched.

gah, why didn't anyone tell me! I've been wearing black shoes with navy skirts/pant for years. eeep!

As a matter of fact, I *did* already know that feet gain weight. Well, in truth, what I learned from personal experience is that feet *lose* weight. Which made me assume that some gaining took place previously. Maybe that was too large a leap to have made, but now you're reaffirming my fine judgment. ;-) After a large weight loss, my feet have shrinked (shrunked? shrinken?) at least half a size; in some shoes it's a full size.
