I have long held the theory that if you’re righteous about something, you’re probably missing part of the story.
Any time I feel like I’m coming close to zealousness, I tell myself to step back and look at the issue from a totally different perspective. Then I let loose the hound of hell that is my analyzing brain, and come up with so many possibilities from absurd to obvious-sounding that the minor demon of righteousness shrinks back sheepishly.
One of these days I may find something to believe in, but I don’t even know if I believe that day will ever come
