or maybe, just really … oh, who knows. but i’m in the process of registering surreally.org (because dot net and dot com are full) and will shortly have some more subdomains for those in need. Tess ranted so well on the subject, and there was mention of the subject of good potential bloggers potentially needing good blogspace on NakedTiny’s blog, which is part of the VASpider web, which is part of this enormongous messload of blogs that i host. and they’re all good, and you know, blogging *is* the answer.
these are just my excuses, folks. truth is, i do this for purely selfish reasons. i love buying domains and hosting them and setting up copies of MT on subdomains. i love reading lovely MT blogs with the comments and the trackback. it’s all about me.
but i share.
in case you were wondering

And we love you for it, lady.
We keep pulling in more and more people… and as my empire grows, so does yours.
mu. ha. ha.
we *will* conquer the world
the universe! at least the blogiverse, eh?
Poor universe…
At least you gave it a head start!
it was only fair …
incedentally the domains are registered — surreally.org and kurtwood.com, for when i set up a photolog for my talented little guy.
i mean, how can you *not* give your kid a domain of his own first name?
Um. Don’t forget the dot name domain, and the dot US domain, too.
oh stop it. i was all into clicking those boxes, don’t encourage my crazy ass. there’s a dot ws domain available too.
ack.what a bad influence you are
What the hell is dot ws? Not that I’m encouraging you…:)
it’s one of those countries that sells its country TLD as a major source of income. they market it as “dot web site” — like dot tv (which is a teensy country called Tuvalu which, i think, domains are their major export).
i have to take this slow. right now my hosting bills are over a hundred bucks a month (and i do get this mostly back in donations), it’s a community coming together so that each person can pay a small amount (currently, the plan is that i’ll equalize it all at forty bucks a year per subdomain), and have fast, reliable (99.99% uptime is what we get, at this point), and roomy (60MB per subdomain, we share that, some use more, some less).
someday i may go for a virtual server. but that’s still a little beyond me at this point. scary.
as a side note, the blogger pro service (a remotely hosted solution, and all that that entails) costs thirty five bucks a year, WITHOUT hosting.
maybe i should charge more? nah.
Phew. That’s starting to be significant cash outflow. Commendations are indeed in order.
Rock on, kd! Rock on, indeed! Woo! If I have cash on my card tomorrow after running errands, I’ll drop some dough in your most worthy lap. Dude.
Dude. *nods head* anything is welcome, but it is generally handled. people are generous, life is good, blogging is life.
but i’m not obsessed or anything. perish the thought.
Hey kd…expect some cash from me whenever I get paid for my training. i was thinking about it the whole time I was in class! Every time I surfed to your blog while I was supposed to be listening, I would think “Yay! I’m going to get to pay kd, and that makes me happy because she ROCKS.”
hahahahaha.
And then the teacher would call on me, and I would make up some bullshit answer because I didn’t hear the question.
*tsk* should be paying attention in class and not blogsurfing! naah, what am i saying.
but don’t worry overmuch about the cost, i’m the queen of cashflow. and my bank just upped my overdraft protection, cause i haven’t used it in two months! woohoo!
kd, you are completely and totally obsessed.
and i like that.
…looking forward to Kurtwood.com. The little guy takes cool pictures.
Re: minions (as referenced by Suzie)
If you search for minions, you get 146,000 possibilities.
May I suggest “subjects,” since that’s what empires have?
can i point out that being a part of you web involves the best tech support ever as well?
and, um, now that your empire is established, does it make me a minion or something?
ROFL! Way to go KD! You rock. As always. But you knew that, right?
I too do things just like that for the selfish reasons. I can’t stand waiting for blogspot to load, and I like to leave comments!
