i am still loving the meat puppets, did you know they were kurt cobain’s favorite band? and do you know that my son’s name is a subliminal combination thereof? kurt cobain, and chris and curt kirkwood (the brothers in the puppets) = kurtwood. we were all off into them all in ’97. it’s a very original name, and how many people own their kid’s first name dot com? i do. it will be his photolog, when i get a round tuit. anyway.

this is a personal favorite of mine due to the spacy 70′s guitar work (done in the early 90′s) but … there is much better music.

I love this band, and thank you for mentioning them before. I went and ordered Forbidden Places (which I had on cassette years ago and lost) and Too High to Die after that.
I saw them live in a small club YEARS ago and remember been blown away by the amount of sound made by just 3 guys.
Yeah, I figured as much. Made me feel like that song “I always feel like, someone is watchin’ me!”

The first Meat Puppets record I ever heard was the first Meat Puppets record oddly enough. Ya know the one on SST. I didn’t realize for the first few months that it was actually a 45 rpm 12″ and thought the Meat Puppets were sludgy and satanic. Little did I know they were really twangy and satanic. “Walking Boss” is still one of my favorite songs ever. Unfortunately I think I was a bigger fan of the super old and psychotic stuff.
I got to see the Meat Puppets v2.0 last fall, and it was only then that I started paying them any attention. I was blind, but now I see.
