labor day is a big favorite of mine, because i’m selfish. and lazy. other holidays, you’re supposed to be honoring presidents or veterans or historical figures’ birthdays, or being thankful, or some sort of religious observance — all that effort and energy, and none of it about me dammit! but today? labor day? it’s all about me. the american worker. i mean, just because i get paid to do something i enjoy, doesn’t mean i can’t seriously appreciate a day in which i get paid to sit on my ass and play on the internet. oh wait. ok, sit on my ass, play on the internet, and have a foster’s for breakfast! there you go. because as much fun as it is to play on the internet for a living, beer drinking is frowned on at my place of employment.
and yeah, it’s all about you, the other american workers, too. i’ll admit that. i’ll even drink to that!

You go, girl! You know, based on your recommendation of Fosters, I decided to try it. Me likee. Its very nice. Unfortunately, it costs double what some others cost, but it IS nice.
oddly enough, here it’s cheaper than most other beers — by far the best beer you can get for US$6.99/twelvepack. just can’t beat that price.

While others howled about the baseball strike, I merely asked for the rest of the story: what about the toilet scrubbers, the counter clerks, and the groundskeepers?

Go to 10:30 in the Real Audio clip to hear the Paint by Numbers story. Later in the story (14:30) they create music according to polling people on what they like. They also create the song that everyone is pretty much guaranteed to hate: bagpipes, children singing, lyrics about holidays and religion, opera stars rapping about cowboys, wild volume and tempo changes.
