lethal weapon

a couple months back, one of my favorite clients had a kind of disaster/miracle — you know the type, where something awful happens under damn near miraculous circumstances, and everyone lives through it. in this case it was a serendipitous decision to not work late as usual, that meant no one was in the office when the following pictures happened. (however, we are talking a margin of five whole mintues, between the leaving, and the crashing). in picture number five, you’ll see where the owner’s wife’s 19″ monitor was flung from her desk, against the wall (some 7′ up the wall and 10-15 feet away) from the violence of thie impact, which consisted of a guy at the other end of the parking lot, crazy guy, driving someone else’s car, who had a fight with his girlfriend. ‘i’ll show her’ said crazy guy to himself, floored it, and drove into a building. no skid marks. probably hit doing 60.

Holy guacamole! I’m glad no one in the office was hurt.

That is so scary! Hooray for shutting down early.

Good thing they hadn’t decorated, too; they can just use the orig. contractor’s invoices for the insurance. That was horrible. I know. But man oh man that’s a sterile looking workplace.

i’m not sure it was always like that — pretty sure anything that would have been on the walls would have fallen off, i’ve been there a couple times and it never struck me as sterile — it’s a travel agency, so there were probably lots of tropical looking doodads all over the place to make people think of exotic locales.

you have to realize the car went all the way into the building, through a side office, 4 (of 6) travel agent cubicles, and into the reception area, destroying everything in its path. the reception area (as seen in crash3) used to be a nice round desk thingy with stuff on it and … you know, things. and stuff.

oh, i shouldn’t say anything, i’ve never decorated anything in my life. i wouldn’t notice an undecorated office, as long as there was … you know, stuff sitting around.

See, the whole thing was really a WOMAN’S fault. They drive men to do such things. Nope, can’t pin this on the guy…

(Oh man do I have the feeling I’m going to get it for this one.)

Wow. Wow. Wow. I’m glad you all were NOT there. What a crazy freak. I hope him and Bubba are having lots of man-love.

    wow….

    Holy shit!!
    What a fruitcake…

i’m pretty sure if the crazy guy has a girlfriend now, it’s some big inmate named bubba, if you know what i mean.

at least three people would have been killed instantly, and several others seriously injured. and they usually work late.

OMG! Thank goodness, everyone left early for a change.

Wow. Reminds me of one night when I was closing up my family’s business, a little market/grocery store. I had just locked the doors and was walking to my car in the small parking lot, looked up as I heard a strange sound and saw a car sparking as it flew down the street, hit a light pole and crashed sideways into the doors that I and about 4 employees had been standing at about 20 seconds before.
My first thought was, of course,”Whoa!”. My second thought was “Fuck! I can’t go home!” Blew the front doors completely off and across the inside of the store. The car was stolen, the driver and back seat passenger high-tailed it and the front passenger was unconcious. I was sure he was dead. He came to in time to have a nice little struggle with the cops.

The things you women drive us men to do. ;)

So tell the truth, what really happened was that this was the result of your daughter’s driving test, wasn’t it?

  17. kd

    hahaha — no.

and for any of you out there that bitch about women drivers, note that this was a MAN driver. yeah. burly he-man, testosterone-having, girlfriend-fighting MAN i tell ya.

    hmmph.

if she was nutso enough to have such a boyfriend, she probably was, come to think of it. he was unconscious but alive when the police got there.

must’ve been a big strong car, i bet he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

so glad he didin’t kill my client’s wife and his staff. looking at what his wife’s monitor went through, i just don’t want to think about what would have happened to her. nice lady.

Glad no one was hurt. Guess it’s time to do some exterior redecorating with some Jersey barriers, eh?
