My domain is not there at the moment. You may have noticed if you were dropping by to say hi or to see how your Sim is doing or to find about the Santa Monica meet tomorrow (it’s still on, btw!).

kd, the goddess of all blogs and bloggers, has kindly offered to let me hijack her blog so I can vent/whine/update. She rocks beyond anyone’s wildest imagination, but I think most of you know that already, don’t you?

So…the venting and whing comes later, but for now, here’s the Santa Monica Meet info:

We’re meeting in Santa Monica at 2:00 PM, directly in front of the carousel. Directions are below:

Take the 405 to the 10West. Take the 4th street exit. Go right (north) on 4th Street. Go straight until you reach Colorado. Make a left on Colorado. There’s a big parking structure on the right side. When you reach 2nd Street, make a right turn. There’s a parking entrance right after you make the turn. Enter it and park your car. Exit the parking structure onto Colorado Street. Walk West past 2nd Street. The next street will be Ocean, and you’ll see the big Santa Monica Pier Sign (at the corner of Colorado and Ocean). Walk to it and over the bridge. We’ll be at the foot of the bridge. The carousel is on the left hand side.

My skittish.org emails are all down at the moment, but you can reach me here if you need my cell phone number. I can’t wait to meet everyone–it’s going to be a bright spot in an otherwise shitty week. And I could really use a bright spot right now.

ooo! Now for the venting….Why is my site gone?? Well…it’s a long story…wanna hear me whine?

My domain came up for renewal on September 19. I had to go back to my old webhosts Bizland, (who will not be linked because they don’t deserve one), to renew it because they were my reseller, and Tucows wouldn’t allow me to renew it myself. I had to contact Bizland, who informed me I had to reopen an account with them in order to renew my domain. So I did. (I went for the free, basic account, fielding sales pitches left and right, because no WAY would I go back to those people after the numerous problems I had with them before.) Am I digressing and rambling? Why, yes, I am. Probably not making much sense either. lol

So…I opened my free account, renewed my domain. Informed them that no, I would not like to upgrade my membership, and no, I didn’t not want them to be my webhost, because I’m very happy with the one I have and that was then end of it. Until I hit the link to my site today and msn informed me that skittish.org was no where to be found–perhaps I was trying to find scottish.com? I emailed Bizland, but since they have a history of not answering tech support emails (one of the reasons I left), I thought I should call. I called, was put on hold for 15 minutes, talked to a very nice young girl who was no help, and offered to call me back with info. She called back later and informed me that while yes, I had renewed the domain, and been charged for it, my name was never associated with it, therefore, it didn’t go through. The way she spoke, it was somehow my fault. WTF? If I sign into my account, with all my information, and I hit the renew my domain button, and it takes all my information and charges my credit card, how is it that I didn’t associate my name with the domain?

So, while I’m waiting for my domain name to propogate, I can still visit my site here, and so can you. Kinda scary without the style sheet, though.
