gluttony and sloth

so this morning as i left the house, i worried about not having anything i felt like bringing for lunch or snacks. silly of me.

in the kitchen here, right now: homemade fudge, chocolate walnut candy, apricot bars, two carrot cakes, white chocolate/macadamia bars, and two dozen krispy kreme doughnuts. in the tech room: entire gift basket full of food. on my desk: remnants of a bread bowl formerly filled with cream of broccoli soup, which was quite unnecessary, really. but i ate it anyway, because … well it was there. *urp*

as nice as this sounds, the real holiday pigout doesn’t start here, till the tamale ladies do thier thing. last year i believe fifty pounds of masa was mentioned — the tamale ladies don’t mess around.

i can hardly wait *urp* but i could sure use a nap.

kd, thank you for reminding me. the boy is california-bred and loves tamales… it’s not a trad. holiday food here on the east coast, but i know he adores them and misses them. i need to find a recipe now.

    meanwhile, a little further south…

a young man is continuing to eat copious amounts of sushi and drink lots of orange juice. He’s not sure why so much OJ, he doesn’t even like OJ all that much, but when there is craft services in the office for the week, you partake.

He also doesn’t know why he’s speaking in the third person.

He’ll blame it on being in Los Angeles and wanting a since of anonymity.

You know, L.A. Confidential, as it were.

I’ve never actually had a tamale, but I saw something on FoodTV about them, I’d love to try them…unfortunately, no one I know makes them :(

Tamales are a wonder food, yes. Just returned from a trip to the border (texas-mexico, way down along the coast), visiting the parentals. Had tamales for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Sunday. It was a magnificent day!

In years past I’ve helped MIL make up to 80 dozen (yes, EIGHTY-DOZEN). Will be having them before the midnight-present-orgy tonight for sure!
