so i was laying around the couch watching deuce bigalow, male gigolo, and when it was over i sat up and clicked for email. nothing. i tried to see a site or two with the browser, and nothing. i sighed heavily, went and turned off the old windows box, plugged in the modem, had a small fight with the internet connection wizard which wanted me to go look at the microsoft internet service referral place — uh, no. so i set the dang thing up by hand. and so it’s now connected to my lovely and generous new ISP who gave me this dial-up acct. to see me through the lack of dsl.
i’m connected at 45.2.
and i just lost a couple emails while thrashing around trying to setup the netscape email client.
if you mailed me between like 10:00 and now, or even before that, say, 9:00? gone. long gone.
OMG….KD on dial up! The world really is coming to an end isn’t it?!!

this is why it’s good you’re moving out of the swamp wetlands, and to somewhere more civilized where you can get decent internet speeds.

kd, i feel for you. i’m a recent convert to the joys of dsl after an awfully long time on dialup and a brief stint on cable. the idea of having to locate (let alone use) my old modem is enough to give me the heebies and the jeebies as well.
but. bandwith will be yours again soon. strength!

Sounds like my kids…got their own computers this morning so that I could have mine back. No more “Mom, Interrupted”. The 21 year old broke hers right off (bad enough that I think it’s going back to Gateway for repair), and the 16 year old whined about having dial-up until I can get the DSL networked to them. I may hold out for signatures on work orders like garbage duty and dishwasher duty before I call the geek to hook ‘em up…
KD, you poor, poor thing. This happened to me for a whole weekend a month or so back… My heart is bleeding for you.
